Getting married is not only about finding the person with whom you would like to spend the rest of your life. There are many details that also need to be worked out. Sometimes it may feel a little overwhelming, but if you try to be organized you will find that you will get through. Here are some reminders of the things you need to take care of and some questions to ask yourself to create an idea of what you are looking for:
- First of all, invest in a notebook and a pen to take with you on your many shopping sprees and visits to halls. You will need to take extensive notes to help you sort out your ideas. At the same time, open a folder on your computer entitled “wedding.” Then you can keep all of your ideas, guest lists, wedding lists, and contact numbers in order.
- Now, sit down together and decide the kind of marriage ceremony you are looking for. Do you want something that is traditional or more modern? Do you want a completely religious ceremony, a ceremony that combines religious rituals with your favorite poems and songs, or to create something of your own that is totally atheistic but is based on your own thoughts and beliefs? Then make a list of possible clergymen or other figures that you would want to ask to conduct the ceremony. Have someone else in reserve if the main person of your choice is unavailable.
- What kind of wedding clothing do you want? A traditional white dress or something less conventional? Do you want to hire your wedding clothing, buy it, or have it specially made?
- Is there a specific theme that appeals to you, such as a tropical wedding or a Victorian style? This is important to work out in terms of the wedding hall because then you can start choosing a color scheme and the kind of table settings you would want. You would also choose wedding centerpieces that would conform to this idea. If you are not sure exactly how to blend your theme into how to set the table, you would need to look carefully at various centerpiece ideas and types of settings. There are so many ideas out there that you would be sure to find something.
- You need to find a hall that also fits in with your theme. And do you want the ceremony at the same place as the banquet? This may make things easier from the logistical viewpoint, but you might like the idea of getting married on a romantic riverbank and then driving about two miles up the road to the hall for the actual banquet.
- What kind of wedding video do you want? You need to choose a good photographer. Try to get good references and view some previous work before you actually choose your photographer.
- Before making all of these choices, take a look at the funds you have available. Remember that marriage is supposed to be for life, and if you go beyond your resources you may find yourself heavily in debt. And that is not a good way to start your married life.
